CJ, you are absolutely right about nonprofit organizations becoming dependent on the government teat! Why does the taxpayer have to support the YMCA, for example? Or the Dungeness River Nature Center, which is owned and controlled by JKT? These, among others, are not "essential services, are they?

Neither has been essential to my existence in the 12 years I’ve lived here. Costco has been more essential. LOL. Plenty of people I talk to always mention Costco is one of the reasons they considered the area. While people love nature, I haven’t heard from anyone yet that said the nature center played a large part in their decision to move here. It’s a nice perk for the area along with the Y, no doubt, but neither sound essential the way Costco is, based on my own experience and talking with residents.

Stop giving money away to favored programs. We can't afford it. Basic services like police need to be funded. Forget the fancy library and stupid pet projects!
